Packed with politics, drama, sex, violence, action, and depravity, Game of Thrones overflows with all the stuff HBO is good at.

If the story clicks with you, and you’ll know if it does after watching the first episode, all the names and places won’t be a chore to remember, they’ll be a joy to learn about. Each of those family houses with the serious sounding names will reveal their personalities and deepest secrets. Choose one (or several) of the noble houses to root for.
