“Wow, I really Cronenberged up the whole place, huh Morty?”
Created by: Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland
22min TV-MA
Imagine if Marty McFly didn’t want to have anything to do with that crazy old Doc Brown, but the Doc still dragged him along on every risky adventure against Marty’s wishes and against his better judgement. Plus the Doc’s an alcoholic. That’s Rick and Morty.
The animated series from Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland is more than just a clever concept. It’s insanely funny, deeply rooted in the history of sci-fi, and occasionally sad. You see, dangerous adventures on an interdimensional scale don’t alway go as planned. There are consequences when you bend the fabric of the universe. You make enemies. People get hurt. This is unusual territory for a half-hour cartoon to explore, but it works. It works really well.
Rick And Morty comes out of the gate strong with a great first episode that introduces the characters and clearly establishes the world they live in. And it just keeps gets better from there. This show has quickly risen up the list of my favorite animated series. It joins South Park, Futurama, and The Venture Bros. right at the top. If you enjoy any of those shows, then you must check out Rick and Morty.
